The Forrester Mansion is all decked out as guests began arriving for the annual event. Sure, Sheila is on the loose, but that doesn’t mean the family is going to lock the front door or call security to announce guests. Of course, Sheila wouldn’t dare interrupt the festivities!
Paris and Zende arrive, asking if Ridge has arrived yet. Eric admits that Ridge might not show up, although he encouraged his son to be there. Brooke also hopes Ridge won’t stay away just because of her. Paris says she fully understands Brooke’s position, and Zende agrees, and I’m like, “Wait, they missed an opportunity to repeat the dialogue about how things happened between Ridge and his wives. ? Merry Christmas to all of us!”
When we go to the credits, it’s one of those fun things where they throw the bells on the usual music and anyone who knows me, your guest recap, knows I like that kind of thing. Total sucker for this.
When Hope and Liam arrive, they agree that walking through the front door feels like “a warm hug”.
The kids are all gathered around the tree singing when they spontaneously stop so Paris can shame them all by singing the last line and stealing the show. Everyone compliments Charlie on his fishing rod – although I’m not sure why he walks around the living room with it – and he says he and Pammy are going to sneak around a bit to relax. “Pammy will be knitting and I’ll be watching her excitedly,” he says. (Too much information, man!) The conversation turns to Stephanie, and how she’s never far from their thoughts.
Katie and Carter reunite under the mistletoe, and she says how happy she is to have someone who will take care of her heart. “A very special, miraculous heart,” he smiles, and we know he’s healthy too, thanks to his recent visit to the cardiologist. (Shouldn’t someone have invited Paris’ mom and Katie’s doctor to the party? In the meantime, I’m still suspicious of the whole doctor’s visit…it’s not a show that has random scenes for no reason.)
Eric raises a glass and bids everyone happy holidays, playing the part of Tiny Tim saying “God bless us all”. As they circle the room to express their gratitude, Zende says he’s grateful that he and Paris got a second (or is it third) chance. So apparently they’re together now, not that we’ve seen that play out on screen. “When it’s worth it, and it’s written in the stars, it always falls into place,” Paris says before blowing a kiss to her pal as Carter, who dumped her on the altar, hugs herself. stands a few meters away. But hey, that’s okay…that’s how holiday gatherings at Forrester’s manse roll!
Carter says he has a lot to be grateful for, including the forgiveness the family has given him. “You are my chosen family,” he says, then, looking at Katie, he adds, “I can’t wait to see what tomorrow has in store.” For her part, Katie says they have all received so many miracles, and there are more to come.
“There’s this Logan pride!” Hope enthuses, and I can totally hear the haters among you not-so-silently complaining that there are more Logans than Forresters present. Hush, it’s Christmas! Hope continues that she is happy that her children have such good role models to look up to, especially her husband.
Following: could [Spoiler] to be Thomas’ next love?
Liam, in turn, encourages everyone to “look for joy. It’s there. And luckily, in my case, I don’t have to look too far.
When Brooke’s turn comes around, she shares how lucky she feels to have her family — especially her children, grandchildren and sisters — to lean on, especially now. And with his usual impeccable timing, Ridge chose that moment to walk in, hands full of goodies. The way he and Brooke look at each other makes me want to remind her of the whole self-esteem journey she’s on and she shouldn’t let Ridge derail this.
Eric is delighted with the arrival of his son. Ridge admits he wears “a great coat of humility, because I thought I knew everything about life and love and communication, and it turns out I know very little.” Eric warns that he’ll never understand any of this…except what’s really important. And while family is hugely important, that apparently doesn’t include Thomas, because no one mentions him. Cold, people. Cold!
Following: What Annika Noelle wants for Hope’s future
As the others watch from the side, Brooke and Ridge talk, and he admits he “really wanted to see her face”. Pam tells Eric that “Ridge and Brooke’s power cannot be denied”. She and Charlie then slip away, a gleam in their eyes…
Ridge is ready to go out, saying he doesn’t want to stay longer than his welcome. But Brooke points out that it’s his family home and he shouldn’t rush. “I have work to do on me,” he admits. “I have to learn to be more direct.” She suggests that now is not the time to discuss it. “I should have believed in you,” he sighs. ” I believe in you ! And I know you’ve given up on men for now, especially this man, but it’s Christmas.
Just then, Charlie and Pam use her new fishing pole to dangle some mistletoe above Ridge and Brooke, who share a kiss.
The party is starting and honestly it looks awesome and there are a few ideas here that I could steal for my own holiday reunion. Christmas bingo? Bobbing for candy canes? And of course, there’s plenty of Eric’s enriched eggnog for everyone! Eric encourages the family – and by extension, all of us – to help those less fortunate, to be better people, and to keep the spirit of Christmas alive in our hearts all year round.
And of course it wouldn’t be a Bold and beautiful Christmas if the guests didn’t gather around the piano to sing a chorus or two from “Deck the Halls.”
Until next week, when Sheila will no doubt raise a little you-know-what and we’ll find out if that kiss between Ridge and Brooke was a holiday slip or the start of a new romance, Happy Holidays from all of us at all of you!
