The latest report on his future comes from the Daily Telegraph as they say Chelsea have offered Juventus one of Pulisic and Timo Werner, plus cash, for Matthijs de Ligt.

Of course, USMNT fans are hoping whatever happens with Christian Pulisic at Chelsea will be the best for the United States ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

But there is no way of knowing what will be best for his future and this summer is a very big moment in his career.

The USMNT star will have plenty of options

Listen, it’s clear that Chelsea seem quite keen on freshening up their attack and are okay with leaving Pulisic this summer.

Pulisic has scored big goals and won big trophies at Chelsea over the past three seasons, but his injury record is concerning and he doesn’t really suit Thomas Tuchel’s 3-4-2-1 system as the German coach prefers narrow forwards and Pulisic is a true winger.

Whether Chelsea’s new US owners sell him or not – he has two years left on his contract, so his transfer value will only decrease after this summer, if he doesn’t sign a new deal – remains to be seen, but many clubs will want to land the USMNT star. His talent is undeniable.

With Raheem Sterling and Ousmane Dembele both linked with a move to Chelsea, as well as the Blues pushing to sign Raphinha from Leeds, these three players play in very similar positions to Pulisic.

It’s not looking very good for his future at Chelsea.

Tuchel is very fond of Pulisic but admitted he sees him as a player who can have a real impact on the bench and often uses him in that role. If Pulisic stays at Chelsea next season and they sign two from Sterling, Dembele and Raphinha, the competition in his role will be huge. Five substitutes will be allowed per game in the Premier League from next season but Pulisic definitely wants more than a small role in a top team.

Will he get it at Chelsea? Maybe not.

Where should he go?

If he wants to move, going to Turin to play for Juve is not a bad idea.

They are in the UEFA Champions League, close friend Weston McKennie is relied upon in midfield (USMNT fans are salivating at the thought they could combine week after week in Italy) and Juve’s attacking options are not as numerous as those of Chelsea. . He would struggle with the return of Federico Chiesa for playing time, but Juventus have offloaded many attacking stars this summer with Federico Bernardeschi and Paulo Dybala both leaving. It could be a good opportunity for him to be the main man of a big European team.

Pulisic seems to need a fresh start somewhere and at 23 (he will turn 24 in September) he still has the peak of his career ahead of him. He can’t lose his prime sitting on a bench or playing for a manager who doesn’t fully believe in him.

He will have options in Italy, Spain, Germany and the Premier League but first and foremost he needs to play for a team that best suits his style of play and a manager who will play him regularly.

The fact that Chelsea are offering him to other clubs tells us all, including Pulisic, that it’s time to move on.
