Christina Hall announces she has lead and mercury poisoning “very likely” from house flipping

Reality TV personality Christina Hall, 39, said on Thursday she was suffering from mercury and lead poisoning – and feared her job renovating homes was making her sick.

The Flip or Flop star revealed her health issues on her Instagram Story on Thursday. She had told her followers that she was suffering from illness last week and feared her illness was caused by her breast implants.

Diagnostic scans found the real culprit. Ms Hall fears her work renovating homes is the root of her problems, saying: ‘[the problems] most likely from all the filthy houses i’ve been to and i have bacteria overgrowth in my small intestine.

Lead poisoning occurs over time and is the result of continued exposure to the dangerous chemical. While its use in homes and buildings is strictly regulated in the United States, many older homes still have lead paint, pipes, and other materials.

Ms Hall shot to fame in 2014, alongside her ex-husband, Tarek El Moussa, on their HGTV show.

Prior to their Hollywood days, the couple ran a real estate agency in Orange County, California, where they moved house.

After a decade of house flipping and working on filthy construction sites, Ms Hall fears her job may be to blame for her recent illness.

Lead buildup in the body can occur over the years. Although every small exposure to the chemical poses little risk, repeated exposure over long periods of time can cause problems.

The paint and pipes used in older homes often contain lead, as the risks of exposure to the chemical were not known decades ago. Industrial dust can also be a source.

Other sources of exposure include contaminated water, soil or air.

Symptoms in adults include high blood pressure, muscle and abdominal pain, memory problems and headaches.

Lead exposure is the most dangerous for children because it can seriously affect the development of their brain, nervous system and other vital organs.

Chelation therapy is used to treat lead exposure. The process injects an acidic compound into a person’s blood that attaches to metals like lead and then exits the body through urination.

Last week, Ms Hall shared that she had been dealing with ‘unexplained health issues for years, and now I’m considering the idea that it might be related to breast implants’.

She also recently revealed that a few months ago she had such an adverse reaction to fillers that she had to have them removed.

“In April I had a reaction to under eye filler,” she wrote in a selfie demonstrating the issue. “Super inflated and it wouldn’t go down over time.”

Along with some shocked-looking emoji, she self-deprecated by writing to her over 1.5 million followers, “I know.” It’s a scary photo.

Christina then uploaded a selfie of her flushed but puffy cheeks after successfully having the fillers excised.

“After dissolving with hyaluronidase and ultra sound frequency treatments to remove all filler,” she wrote. ‘Never again.’

April was a chockablock month for Christina, as it emerged that she had married her third husband Joshua Hall, a real estate agent.

Christina is a mother of three, co-parenting her two eldest children Taylor, 12, and Brayden, seven, with their father Tarek El Moussa.

She also has a three-year-old son called Hudson with her second husband, dashing British TV presenter Ant Anstead, who is currently dating Renee Zellweger.

Ant and Christina tied the knot three days before Christmas 2018 at their Newport Beach home – but broke up less than two years later.

They announced their separation in September 2020 just after Hudson’s first birthday, then fought a bitter custody battle for their baby boy.

Earlier this year, Ant filed an emergency order for full custody of Hudson, while allowing Christina to have him every other weekend.

He accused her in court papers of being a dangerous mother who spent an average of only “9 full days a month” with Hudson and constantly paraded him on social media while in her custody, TMZ reported.

“What Ant is doing saddens me deeply,” Christina replied in Us Weekly. “If this was really about Hudson, as he says, it should have been handled privately with a private judge or mediation, as I and my attorney suggested.”

A judge dismissed Ant’s emergency order, ruling he had provided “insufficient evidence” that the arrangement needed to be changed immediately.

However, the custody battle raged on and was due to go to trial next March until Ant and Christina finally reached a settlement this month.

The scheduled trial has been canceled and both parents “will continue to have joint legal and physical custody,” according to court documents obtained by People.
