Season 17 of sister wives dives deep into the issues that led to Kody Brown and Christine Brown’s split in November 2021. As this season progresses, viewers learn more details about the couple’s breakup. However, should TLC have stopped rolling about some of the more personal aspects of the couple’s split? Is the network making a splash on Kody and Christine’s divorce for the hearings?
Christine Brown pulled back the curtain on polygamy issues
After years of towing the Brown family’s tale of happiness, Christine has emerged as the clan’s most outspoken critic and lifted the curtain on polygamy issues this season.
Reality TV is meant to show the unfiltered lives of its subjects. Therefore, fans expect the stars to reveal everything about their lives. However, is TLC taking advantage of Christine and Kody’s very public split to push a narrative that could harm the overall health of their family, including their youngest daughter, Truely?
Is TLC Sensationalizing Christine & Kody Brown’s Divorce For The Hearings?
While this season of sister wives focuses on the split of Christine and Kody Brown, the ripple effect on their polygamous clan is evident. Could they have toned down the narrative? What part does the family have in the stories told?
In a YouTube teaser for “Telling Truely,” it appears TLC cameras weren’t present during the delicate conversation between Christine and her daughter. However, some fans believe that viewers don’t need to know all the details of the couple’s split, including a private discussion between a child and his parent regarding the divorce.
“It annoys me that Christine can’t be honest with her child and tell him she’s leaving the family. I have NO CLUE why it’s so hard for Christine to be honest with Kody, scold him and telling her youngest child that her parents are getting a divorce. If I was Truley, I’d be crazy too! wrote a fan on Reddit.
“The show shouldn’t have talked about it. Fans don’t need to know everything, including a little girl’s reaction to her parents’ divorce. Shame on you Brown family and TLC,” wrote a second viewer.
‘Telling Truely’ will be the most heartbreaking episode of the season of TLC’s ‘Sister Wives’

TLC released a teaser for its final episode, “Telling Truely,” on October 12. In this episode, Christine reveals that her youngest child accidentally overheard a phone conversation where she discusses moving to Utah with her daughter Mykelti.
Christine says she and Kody have agreed to talk to the 12-year-old about their divorce together. However, that one phone call changed those plans. She sat her daughter down, told her they were moving in a few months and told her why they would leave their home in Flagstaff, Arizona.
sister wives airs Sundays at 10 p.m. EST on TLC.
