King Richard doesn’t deserve Oscar because it’s full of ‘bullcrap’ about star who abandoned family, Serena’s sister says

HOT Oscar tip King Richard – which follows the journey of tennis stars Serena and Venus Williams’ father Richard – doesn’t deserve to win any of the six gongs it’s up for, as it’s a “crock of bull crap,” his daughter has claimed .

The Hollywood movie, starring Will Smith, portrays Richard’s single-minded pursuit to turn his daughters into tennis stars, and Smith is the overwhelming favorite to scoop Best Actor at the ceremony this Sunday.

Smith has already taken home the same trophy at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, BAFTAs and Critics Choice. The movie also has five other nominations including Best Picture.

Yet William’ eldest daughter Sabrina, 57, believes it doesn’t tell the real story, as she was one of five children he walked out on in his first marriage when Sabrina was only eight.

Sabrina’s met her 80-year-old father just a handful of times since and is now cut off from him and her sporting half-siblings.

The first marriage is completely ignored in director Reinaldo Marcus Green’s biopic.

The film also glosses over Williams’ alleged indiscretions and the time he was suspected of breaking Serena’s mom Oracene’s ribs in a reported bust up in 1999, but she refused to press charges to save her daughters’ careers.

The award wins are doubly painful for Sabrina, who lost her son Alphonse after tragically taking his own life last month.

She says Williams hasn’t bothered to get in touch about his grandson – and takes issue with the movie’s sympathetic portrayal of his father.

“This whole thing is a crock of bull crap,” says Sabrina.

“It’s twice as painful because my son is gone and then I have to think about people winning awards.

“I’m just so done. I mean, God bless Will Smith, and I guess he deserves the awards, as you can’t fault his ability as an actor.

“I’m not mad at Will Smith, I really don’t care, an actor’s gotta make money and an A-lister wants these sort of things as I guess the more Oscars you have on your shelf, the better it is for you .

“I can only, at the end of the day, project any feelings or frustration, on Richard himself. The whole-ass movie was told and it wasn’t even the true story with nothing about his past family.

“Until the day my dad dies, he’ll never be King Richard in my own mind, no matter what the public think.”

Sabrina has been used to not having a father in her life, but still thought he may have reached out when her youngest boy overdosed on February 3 after a mental and physical health battle.

‘HE’S NO KING’

The Sun previously revealed Williams’ health has rapidly declining after two strokes and he’s barely able to talk, according to court documents in his latest divorce.

Rare Facebook videos posted this month show him looking frail but mobile as she stares into the camera and gets to grips with modern technology.

Other social media posts show him enjoying time with his other grandchildren and hanging out with friends in a park in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Sabrina adds: “If he was such a King, why the f*** didn’t he call to say: ‘I’m sorry about your son?’

“It is what it is. I’m sure he’s out shopping for a suit or something for Sunday, but can’t pick up a phone to say sorry about your loss.”

At the Critics Choice Awards, Venus and Serena went on stage to praise Smith, with Serena saying: “I don’t think there could have been a better tribute to our father than the performance that you delivered, Will, thank you.”

FAMILY TORN APART

Whereas Sabrina thinks the Men In Black star should have done more research on her dad.

“It just solidifies the fact that some movie stars, some people are out for themselves. Not every movie star, but Will Smith should have done more background work,” says Sabrina from her Las Vegas home.

“Maybe right now people are just out of Covid and need a feel good movie after everything that’s happened in the last two years.

“But it’s not authentic. They’re avoiding the truth – the filmmakers, Richard, Serena, Venus. It’s their version of the truth. There’s a saying that there’s your side, my side and, in between, is the truth.

“But it was told more on with 98 percent of their side, and two percent on my side. Because at the end of the day, nobody wants to hear anything bad about the Williams family.

“It’ll be me who sounds like the crazy one, but I have to speak the truth.

Serena and Venus didn't have childhoods, says King Richard's daughter

“I always knew where I stood with my dad, now at least I now know where I stand a thousand per cent. I know there’s nothing that will make my dad, or anybody else from that side of the family, reach out and they’ ve made their line in the sand and that’s fine.

“I was going to try to find out where my dad was and send an invite to Alphonse’s funeral, but he’s not going to come, he’s not even going to respond.”
