Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, has recorded a special Christmas video message for a charity for bereaved military children dressed as Spider-Man.

Dressed in a full Spider-Man costume, the prince recorded the message for Scotty’s Little Soldiers charity, wishing them a Merry Christmas.

The video was played in front of more than 100 young children who experienced the death of a parent who had served in the British Armed Forces.

Masked in the Spider-Man costume, revealing neither his face nor his identity, Prince Harry appeared in the hilarious but heartwarming video to wish the children a Merry Christmas.

“Hey, Scotty’s toy soldiers. Welcome to the Christmas party,” the Duke of Sussex told them.

He then challenged them to save Christmas by defeating the villains who had stolen Santa’s presents. Children took on challenges during the Heroes and Villains themed party.

“I hope you’ve rested before tonight’s excitement. I heard from Sharky and George that there are five bad guys you need to stop from ruining Christmas. So use your teamwork, your brain and brawn to make sure you’re doing just that. Find them and don’t let them ruin Christmas, okay.

But in a heartfelt message to the children, the prince said: ‘At the same time, Christmas is a time that our loved ones will really, really miss. And it doesn’t matter.

“But at the same time, it can be possible to feel guilty for having fun without our parents. But I’m here to assure you that our parents still want us to have fun, okay.

“So don’t feel guilty – you have the right to have the best time of your life, especially with this Scotty’s Little Soldiers community.

The Duke of Sussex continued: “So go ahead and have the best time, and…”

The prince then lifted his mask and revealed his identity to the children, saying, “Merry Christmas.”

The prince also joined the charity in November as he wrote to children for Remembrance Day.

In his November message to bereaved children, the prince said he shared a bond with them after losing a parent.

But it’s also not the first time the Duke of Sussex has dressed up for the charity to deliver a heartfelt Christmas message. In 2019, he donned Santa’s outfit, complete with a long white beard for the charity.

Scotty’s Toy Soldiers have a long-standing relationship with Harry and said they were incredibly grateful for his “continuing support”.

In 2017, Harry also stepped up for military charity by meeting children who lost their parents in the British Armed Forces.

Alongside the then Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, he hosted families who had lost loved ones in the military to party at Buckingham Palace.

An army veteran himself – having completed two tours of Afghanistan in ten years – the prince met some 800 children who had lost their parents serving their country in combat.

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan are currently in the spotlight over the release of a controversial Netflix documentary which will be released on Thursday.

The six-part documentary series will tell the story of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s relationship as it has never been told before, including revelations from friends and relatives who previously avoided talking about their ” whirlwind romance”.
