Comedian Raju Srivastava died on Wednesday and left a void in the entertainment industry. As fans and celebrities continue to mourn his loss, comedian Rohan Joshi’s remark about his death was not well received by many. Atul posted a photo of Raju on Instagram and wrote, “RIP Rajubhai. You have been such an inspiration to so many people. Every time you went on stage, you turned it on. Your presence was such that as soon as people saw you, there was an automatic smile on their faces. We will truly miss you. A big loss for the Indian stand-up comedy scene.”
To this, Rohan Joshi responded with a comment: “We haven’t lost anything. Whether it’s Karma, the roast or some news. Raju Srivastava took every opportunity he got to shit on new comics, especially after the new wave of stand-up comedy started. He went on every fkall news channel whenever he was asked to shit on an upcoming art form and called it offensive just because he couldn’t understand it and that of new stars were rising. He may have told a few good jokes but he didn’t understand the spirit of comedy or defending someone’s right to say something even if you disagree. Fuck it and be good!”
Shortly after posting the comment, some social media users criticized him for calling Raju’s disappearance “karma”. Although the comment is no longer visible, Rohan later clarified that he took it down after the backlash. “Yehi soch kar removes kiya kyuki after angry minute. I realized today is not about my personal feelings. Sorry if it hurts and thanks for the perspective,” DNA quoted him afterwards.
Meanwhile, Rohan’s “good riddance” comment also angered actor Sikandar Kher. He shared on his Instagram Stories, “There are always people who won’t be the ideal way we think they should be. But that’s life and we as humans and humanity should be there. coping for our own health and happiness (in my opinion) But, after reading this about someone who died too soon, I’m just sad to see that a young man who could be funny and full of wit, probably lacks a huge dose of humanity. Ps: it took a lot for me to be so polite.”
Raju Srivastava died after more than 40 days of hospitalization at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi. According to Raju’s nephew, Kushal Srivastava, he died following a second cardiac arrest. He was hospitalized after suffering a heart attack in a Delhi hotel on August 10.
