Jessie James Decker has more to say about her kids’ athletic physique, which lit up Instagram over the Thanksgiving holiday.
After cheering on a handful of critics in the comments section of a photo featuring Vivianne, 8, Eric Jr., 7, and Forrest, 4, showing off extremely ripped abs in a swimsuit on a beach in Mexico , the singer dedicated an entire article to ending the “bonkers” controversy once and for all.
“When I posted the photo from our vacation and included the kids flexing mindlessly on the beach on our Thanksgiving trip, I had NO idea it would elicit the reaction it did,” Jessie, who is married to Eric Decker, captioned a video compilation on Monday of the couple’s children enjoying their tropical getaway.
“But being accused of photographing my kids’ abs (can’t help but laugh) or…the polar opposite of our kids’ ‘overtraining’ makes me realize how weird our world has become right now. about the body and what’s normal and what’s not,” she wrote.
The 34-year-old – who admittedly struggles with body image issues and bouts of obsessive weight fluctuation – told her followers that she and her retired football player husband, 35, make it a point to “preach about body positivity and acceptance” in their lodge.
Jessie said they wanted to raise their kids “to be proud of their bodies and their hard work,” referring to Vivi’s “elite competitive gymnastics” at Eric Jr.’s desire. “to be like his father as an NFL wide receiver” and that of Forrest. sessions of hours of “dancing with all your heart”.
“But my kids have a massive amount of muscle that’s genetic and built through athletics, is that ‘weird’?” she wrote, adding, “Let’s not choose what we normalize about bodies and accept all people and all children.”
The country singer then invoked a variation of Maya Angelou’s famous words and encouraged her fans to “do better.”
“I’m proud of my kids and encourage them to live their dreams,” she concluded her post, joking, “We’ll see you all at the 2032 Olympics, and wearing the Bubbys jersey in the stands and dancing at Forrest’s Rock Concert✌️.
Eric showered his wife with love and support, commenting, “You have mama bear 🙌🏾🦁.” Other famous moms also supported her.
“I’m sorry this even had to be addressed 😢,” ‘Jersey Shore’ star Jenni “JWoww” Farley wrote, which was followed by Jamie Lynn Spears’ remark, “Yes mam [sic]!!! Your children have won the genetic lottery!! Go Team Decker.
And Candace Cameron Bure, who is navigating her own internet controversy, dropped the emojis, “👏👏”.
