Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s highly anticipated Netflix docu-series is still slated to premiere this year – and is due out in December, according to multiple sources at Page Six.
A report from Deadline on Monday claimed the show was pushed back to 2023 amid backlash over the next season of Netflix hit ‘The Crown’.
“They are shaken by Netflix and they blinked first and decided to postpone the documentary,” a source told the outlet.
But regardless, we’re told the show will go on — and any issues surrounding the doc have nothing to do with “The Crown” season five.
As we previously revealed, Netflix sources have told us there are issues between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Netflix as they want to remove any incriminating comments they have made about King Charles. III, Queen Consort Camilla Parker-Bowles, Prince William and Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales.
The couple had indeed been the ones who wanted to postpone the show to next year.
But a well-placed industry insider told Page Six, “As far as I know, the docu-series is continuing later this year.”
Netflix has yet to announce an official release date and insiders tell us there are still issues with the doc: Harry and Markle made comments in it that contradict what he wrote in his upcoming memoir .
Representatives for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Netflix did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
The new season of ‘The Crown’, the fictional tale of the modern royal family, has drawn heavy criticism, just weeks after the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Reportedly, the scenes show the new King Charles, played by Dominic West, attempting a coup against his mother, now played by Imedla Staunton, when he was Prince of Wales, during a meeting with the former British Prime Minister Sir John Major.
It prompted Sir John to tell the Mail on Sunday that the meeting never happened, calling the scene a ‘barrel of malevolent nonsense’.
There are also believed to be many scenes leading up to the tragic death of Princess Diana, played by Elizabeth Debicki, in a car accident in a Parisian tunnel.
A source from the show reportedly told The Sun that the crew members were speaking out about the on-screen depiction of his death.
“To return to Paris and turn Diana’s last days and hours into drama is very uncomfortable. Finally, some crew members are pushing back,” they said.
