Royal sources slam Prince Harry’s ‘absurd’ claims that his family has ‘no desire to reconcile’

Prince Harry’s suggestions that his family have shown no desire to reconcile with him have been dismissed by royal sources who say his father invited him to visit him over Christmas.

The Duke of Sussex has claimed a potential reunion with loved ones in the UK does not appear on the cards, saying his father and brother have “absolutely no desire to reconcile”.

He made the claim in a trailer for an interview with ITV’s Tom Bradby, as part of the publicity blitz for his memoir, Spare, which will be released next week.

But the initiates at Buckingham Palace poured cold water on the claims, calling them ‘nonsense’ and saying Harry and his wife Meghan had a open invitation to join the rest of the Cabinet this Christmas.

This is despite the release of their Netflix bombshell program last month, which saw them launch a series of attacks on the monarchy.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, a source said Harry’s latest claim was “complete and pure nonsense”.

They said: “It takes a certain audacity to say that when his dad invited him to stay at his house when he was in the UK, he invited him to spend Christmas with the rest of the family and carried on. to make public statements of support.”

They also told the publication: ‘[The King] was saddened not to have had the opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren. He has always left the door open for his son and will continue to do so.

Representatives for Prince Harry have been contacted for comment.

Some royal experts, however, have suggested that the already strained relationship between Harry and the rest of his family could become even more frayed when his memoir is published.

Insiders fear the Duke of Sussex and his brother William, the Prince of Wales, will never reconcile after the release of Spare, with the book set to feature scathing attacks on him and his wife Kate.

A source told The Sunday Times: “Generally I think the book [will be] worse for them than the royal family expects.

“Everything is laid bare. Charles is doing better than he expected, but it’s hard on William, in particular, and even Kate is hurting a bit.

“There are these minute details and a description of the fight between the brothers. Personally, I don’t see how Harry and William will be able to reconcile after this.

The memoirs were penned by the ghostwriter JR Moehringer, with part of the proceeds donated by the Duke to charity.

Ahead of its release next week, two interviews with Harry by CBS’s Mr. Bradby and Anderson Cooper, both done on a rented ranch in Montecito, will be released.

In a trailer for the meeting with Mr Bradby, the Duke of Sussex said he would ‘love my dad and my brother back’, adding that his family ‘have shown no willingness to reconcile’.

Harry says ‘it was never necessary’ and refers to ‘running away and planting’ before adding ‘I want a family, not an institution’.

He also says, in an apparent reference to the Royal Family, “they feel like it’s best to somehow keep us like the bad guys ‘already’ hanging by a thread.”

But a royal expert said Harry and Meghan needed to learn that “silence is common sense” and that airing dirty laundry in public is unlikely to help the reconciliation the duke claims he wants.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said proclamations made by the Sussexes in the press were not helping the fractured relationship.

“Harry might love to ‘get his brother’ and ‘his father’ back, but surely must know that giving this catalog of woes even more exposure is not the right way to do it.

‘Further story accusations leveled against them by the Palace in both interviews show how bitter he and Meghan still are, but, while their fans may support it, there will come a time when even the media will tire of it. be exposed at this level.

“Harry says in the CBS interview trailer, referring to the Palace’s failure to protect them from misinformation, that ‘there comes a time when silence is betrayal.’

“There is also a time, if they want a relationship, even a distant one, with the royal family, where silence is common sense. When will the Sussexes learn this?

In a trailer for his interview with American TV personality Mr Cooper, Harry was asked why he didn’t air his grievances to the family privately.

In response, he said, “Every time I’ve tried to do it privately there have been briefings, leaks and stories against me and my wife.”

“The family motto is never complain and never explain – it’s just a motto.”

He added: “They [Buckingham Palace] will feed or have a conversation with a pen pal, and that pen pal will literally spoon feed information and write the story, and at the bottom of it they’ll say they contacted Buckingham Palace for comment.

“But the whole story is commented on by Buckingham Palace.

“So when we’ve been told for six years, ‘we can’t release a statement to protect you,’ but you do it for other family members, it becomes a time when silence is betrayal. . ‘

The clips appear to confirm reports that Harry will use his memoir to reveal details of disagreements between him and his brother the Prince of Wales, 40.

It comes after the Duke claimed in his Netflix documentary that William broke his promise never to leak stories or brief each other after witnessing the fallout of such actions in their father’s office .
