Angela Bassett’s 16-year-old son Slater Vance has issued an apology to Michael B. Jordan after receiving backlash for participating in a viral TikTok trend of faking a celebrity’s death.

In a since-deleted clip, Slater captured the reaction of his parents — Angela, 64, and Courtney B. Vance, 62 — to the fake news of the death of Wakanda Forever co-star Michael B. Jordan.

After deleting the video, Vance then shared an apology, stating, “I would sincerely like to apologize for participating in such a harmful trend.”

He went on to say, “I apologize to all of Michael B. Jordan’s family, extended family, and Michael directly, because he is my idol and participating in a trend like this is completely disrespectful.”

“I don’t wish any bad consequences of my actions on his family or my parents, because they don’t deserve any backlash.”

“I recognize that was a mistake and hope this can be a lesson for anyone who uses social media as a tool and a source of entertainment to truly understand that your actions can have consequences that go beyond you,” he added.
