48 years after her passing, “Mama” Cass Elliot has finally received a long-awaited star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, with singer Michelle Phillips on hand to honor her.
The singer – known for her work with The Mamas & the Papas – died of heart failure in London aged just 32 in 1974.
She has been honored by singers Carnie Wilson, Chynna Phillips, Bijou Phillips, and Mackenzie Phillips, as well as the child of Cass, Owen Elliot-Kugell, Mickey Dolenz, and many others.

Michelle was the first presenter to speak at the ceremony, wearing dark glasses, a black long-sleeved shirt, black earrings, black pants and black shoes.
“When we first met, Cass and I had our first acid trip. It was in 1965,” Michelle explained.
“We never went down. We bonded. She was my best friend. She gave me the courage to sing when I thought I couldn’t take notes. She was like, “Hey, go ahead. You know I’m going to make it.” And so I took the plunge,” she added.

Acid: ‘When we first met, Cass and I had our first trip on acid. It was in 1965,’ Michelle explained
Other speakers at the ceremony were John Sebastian, Stephen Stills, Owen Elliot-Kugell and Cass’ sister Leah Kunkell.
Michelle and Owen have also posed with Carnie Wilson, Chynna Phillips, Bijou Phillips and Mackenzie Phillips.
Chynna opted for a white t-shirt and brown skirt with a brown hat while Bijou donned a navy mini dress, Owen donned a multicolored maxi dress and Mackenzie wore a black suit with a green scarf.

Speakers: John Sebastian, Stephen Stills, Owen Elliot-Kugell and Cass’ sister Leah Kunkell also spoke at the ceremony.

Carnie also posed with actress Beverly D’Angelo, who once lived at Mama Cass’ former home in Coldwater Canyon.
D’Angelo also attempted to summon the spirit of Mama Cass in a 2011 episode of Celebrity Ghost Stories.

Carnie and Beverly: Carnie also posed with actress Beverly D’Angelo, who once lived at Mama Cass’ former home in Coldwater Canyon and attempted to summon her spirit in a 2011 episode of Celebrity Ghost Stories.

Bijou also brought her eight-year-old daughter, Fianna Francis Masterson, whom she shares with her husband, actor Danny Masterson.
Cass Elliot was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 for her work with The Mamas & The Papas.
She also released five solo albums after the band broke up.
