Britney Spears apparently slams girlfriend Selena Gomez over 2016 speech

Britney Spears apparently slapped her pal Selena Gomez in a bizarre post shared on Instagram on Tuesday.

The 40-year-old pop star appeared to refer to an acceptance speech Gomez, 30, gave at the 2016 American Music Awards after winning the Favorite Female Pop/Rock Artist gong.

“I don’t want to see your bodies on Instagram. I want to see what’s here,” Gomez says, while gesturing to her heart. I don’t need it anymore.”

Spears quotes almost verbatim the first line of Tuesday’s post before expressing her disdain for “righteous speech” and women who “shame” other women.

“Don’t you love the sass of women who stand firm to receive awards and talk about their beliefs about not showing their bodies on instagram???!!!!!” Spears started.

“They say ‘That’s NOT something I would do,’ but these women are the very ones getting the $4 million videos of sucking and licking homemade ice cream!!!!”

The “homemade ice cream” music video may be a reference to Gomez’s 2020 collaboration with South Korean girl group BLACKPINK, titled Ice Cream.

The music video was released in August 2020 and featured visuals of Gomez, along with BLACKPINK members Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa, running an ice cream truck and munching on ice cream cones.

Information regarding the music video’s budget has not been shared publicly.

Spears continued, “These other girls have nothing but beautiful bodies!!!! Who cares if flaunting??? THEY SHOULD!!!’

“So the next time I see someone with a big budget video sucking on lollipops while giving righteous speeches shaming other women for exposing their bodies, I would like to tell those people not to being hypocrites while sucking on your lollipop with a HUGE dream budget…

‘why would you strongly oppose girls who get attention JUST LIKE YOU and they have absolutely nothing????’ Spears concluded. The Toxic hitmaker included an image of herself donning a red bikini top at her Thousand Oaks home.

'They say "This is NOT something I would do" yet these women are the very ones receiving $4 million budget videos of sucking and licking homemade ice cream!!!! “Spears wrote. The

After posting the cryptic Instagram post, Spears fans began to speculate that Gomez might be the subject.

Any clash between the two singers would come as a shock considering Gomez was one of the guests to attend Spears’ wedding to actor Sam Asghari, 28, last June.

The ceremony took place at Spears’ estate in Thousand Oaks and featured many celebrity guests, including Madonna, Drew Barrymore and Paris Hilton.

When asked about her attendance, Gomez told ET that she thought Spears was surrounded by “a lot of people who loved her” that day.

Two months after tying the knot, Spears honored the date by sharing a post on Instagram where she thanked the Disney Channel alum for wishing her well.

‘Thank you Selena for telling me all she wants is for me to be happy 3 times!!! It was a very, very, very special wedding!!!’ she wrote.

The mother-of-two also featured a photo of Gomez in the post.

Although the pair don’t appear to have worked together in the past, Gomez previously recorded a song Britney wrote called Whiplash.

The tune was supposed to be on Spears’ 2008 album Circus, but didn’t make the cut, so Selena was able to record it while performing with Selena Gomez and The Scene.

“It was an honor,” she told MTV News. ‘I just heard the song; I fell in love with it. They gave it to me, the producers who worked on it, and I came to sing and saw that she co-wrote it, so I was very excited.
