  • But there’s one obvious path “Deadpool 3” could take.
  • The sequel could feature Deadpool slaying Fox’s Marvel Universe, a nod to a comic book series.

Ryan Reynolds says he’s struggling to find the perfect way for his beloved character Deadpool to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but there’s a great comic book idea waiting to be tapped.

In a video shared on the actor’s YouTube account, Reynolds announced on Tuesday that his friend Hugh Jackman would reprise the role of Wolverine “once more” in “Deadpool 3” in 2024, but admitted he had no “nothing” else about the character’s MCU entry. out.

“His first appearance in the MCU obviously has to feel special. We have to stay true to the character,” Reynolds said, adding, “Every ‘Deadpool’ has to stand out and stand out. It’s an incredible challenge that forced me to go down, deep inside and I have nothing.”

But fans think the third “Deadpool” should take an obvious direction.

Deadpool Should Kill Fox’s Marvel Universe

Why do fans want this?

Deadpool Killing Fox’s Marvel Universe (think characters largely from the “X-Men”, “Fantastic Four”, and “Daredevil” movies since 2000) would be an incredibly meta reference to Fox’s “Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe” series. 2012 by Cullen Bunn and Dalibor Talajic.

In the “what if” series, Deadpool goes on a killing spree, taking down every Marvel hero and villain from the Fantastic Four to Spider-Man, The Avengers, and even Wolverine in macabre fashion.

Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe

Doesn’t that sound like fun?

Marvel Comics

It was so popular that it spawned a few sequels, including “Deadpool Killustrated,” in which the Merc with a Mouth kills off fictional characters that inspired Marvel characters, like the Little Mermaid and Count Dracula.

In 2019, Disney purchased the entertainment assets of 20th Century Fox, including the rights to use Marvel characters previously used in Fox films such as X-Men, Deadpool, and Fantastic Four. Rather than relying on previous films, Disney is working on its own reboots for “Fantastic Four” and, possibly, “X-Men.”

The deal provides a perfect opportunity to do some sort of live-action adaptation of Deadpool slaying the Marvel Universe without it feeling contrived.

Given that Deadpool is already breaking the fourth wall, nodding to pop culture references and knowing about the Disney/Fox deal, that would be a no-brainer. It would also provide an opportunity for plenty of cameos besides Jackman, as well as a way for fans to say goodbye to the original movies, which helped lay the foundation for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Deadpool might even select some of the characters he wants to see incorporated into the MCU.

How could Wolverine come into play?

Hugh Jackman will once again play Wolverine.

Fox

Excellent question. It’s hard to say, but Deadpool made it clear that he was a big fan of Jackman in the first two movies, so it’s a natural fit.

If Marvel goes the “Deadpool Kills” route, Deadpool could either team up with Wolverine or take on Jackman’s character as the latter tries to stop Deadpool from killing off Fox’s Marvel Universe.

But who’s to say we’d even see the Wolverine we know? Jackman could be playing a variant version of Wolverine from a different timeline.

His character from the Fox movies was killed off in 2017’s excellent “Logan,” which was itself based on an alternate future version of the character from the comic book series “Old Man Logan.” But since the MCU introduced the Multiverse, Jackman’s Wolverine may already exist in another of the MCU’s fictional realities.

Directed by Shawn Levy (“Free Guy”), “Deadpool 3” is currently slated for release on September 6, 2024.
