Jeremy Renner in ‘critical but stable’ condition after ‘weather-related’ crash

Actor Jeremy Renner underwent two surgeries at a Nevada hospital after being seriously injured in a ‘tragic’ snowplow accident.

At a press conference on Tuesday, Jan. 3, Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam described how a family member was driving Renner’s car when it got stuck in the snow.

“He went to get his PistenBully or SnowCat — extremely bulky snow removal equipment — to drive his vehicle forward,” Balaam said. “After moving the vehicle from the blocked spot, Mr Renner got out of the PistenBully to speak to a family member and he started driving.

“He attempted to try and get into the driver’s seat of the PistenBully, which is when he was knocked down by the PistenBully.”

The plow accidentally rolled over one of the actor’s legs, despite a wide array of safety devices, resulting in significant blood loss, a neighbor said.

In his first post since the crash, Renner shared a selfie from his hospital bed with the caption, “Thank you all for your kind words. I’m [sic] too messed up now to type. But I send love to you all.

Renner, 51, has received an outpouring of support from his fans and Marvel co-stars, including Chris Hemsworth, Taika Waititi and Chris Pratt.

Will Renner be able to walk?

Initial reports following the incident said the actor had lost a large amount of blood from his leg after the snow plow knocked him down.

Although the extent and impact of his injuries are unknown at this time, it has been shared that the actor suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries in the crash.

He has now undergone two surgeries to treat “extensive” injuries sustained in the crash.

Details of Jeremy Renner’s snowplow accident revealed in 911 call

Jeremy Renner has been reported to have been “completely crushed” after a snow plow ran him over this week.

According to a 911 recording obtained by TMZthe Marvel star was heard screaming in the background of the call as he had “extreme difficulty” breathing due to his chest collapsing and his upper torso being crushed.

A reminder of what Renner’s family said

It has now been a few days since Jeremy Renner was hospitalized after being knocked down by his snow plow.

In their first and only statement to date, Renner’s family wrote on Jan. 2, “We can confirm that Jeremy suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries and underwent surgery today.

“He’s an honorary deputy sheriff,” Balaam explained. “When I took over in 2019, he came on and with his popularity among the Marvels kids, he’s had a huge impact. Those kids he touched during Shop with the Sheriff – he showed up and got went shopping with our kids – I can guarantee they will never forget that time they had.

“He shared his time with us there and not only went shopping with a few kids, but interacted with the kids,” Balaam added.

“Throughout the community, he has been very generous. He’s one of those people that I can tell you most of the time you don’t know he does, but he had a huge impact on that community.

Snowcat accidents are not uncommon

Although this was a “tragic” incident, it was not a freak accident. While Balaam couldn’t provide specific numbers or statistics on how often this type of Snowcat incident occurs, he said, “I should probably tell you that there are always at least some – because this type of Snowcat is what you would see at ski resorts – that there are always these types of injuries or accidents that happen.. That exact number, I don’t know.

Renner was conscious when responders arrived

Immediately after being nearly fatally crushed by the Snowcat, Renner was apparently still conscious. When asked what condition the actor was in when he arrived at the scene, Balaam said Renner was “talking to first responders.”

There was no doctor on site despite previous reports

According to earlier reports, Renner’s neighbor, a doctor, saved his life by putting a tourniquet on his leg.

However, at Tuesday’s press conference, Sheriff Balaam confirmed that “there was no doctor on the scene. They were good neighbors of Mr. Renner who came out with towels and helped out.”

When asked if they had tied a tourniquet, Balaam replied, “That part I don’t know. I just know they came out with towels and helped him out until our first responders could arrive.
