The search for Julian Sands entered its 11th day amid a warning of strong winds and gusts of up to 62-67mph.

Last week, Sands’ family released the last known footage of him mountaineering.

Sands’ family shared a statement thanking authorities for the “heroic” search effort, which is still ongoing.

The Sheriff’s Department is now looking for two missing hikers on Mount Baldy
On Sunday, January 22, personnel from the Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Department and the Fontana Sheriff’s Station were asked to search for missing hiker, Jin Chung.
Chung initially carpooled up Mount Baldy with two others, but separated from them when they arrived, with the understanding that they would meet at the vehicle at 2 p.m.
The other hikers returned safe and sound but Chung was not seen or heard from.

At least 19 people killed in California storms

Mount Baldy conditions have been ‘extremely dangerous’ since Sands’ disappearance
Conditions on Mount Baldy, where rescuers are searching for Julian Sands, are “adverse and extremely dangerous” and not favorable even for very experienced hikers, police warned this week.
“Due to the high winds, the snow has turned to ice, which makes hiking extremely dangerous,” the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said Friday.
“The Sheriff’s search and rescue efforts are often hampered by bad weather as well as dangerous avalanche conditions. Recent storms that have brought snow and ice conditions are not favorable for hikers, even those who consider themselves to have a high level of experience.
