‘Smile’ Sees $2 Million Previews, Harry Styles’ ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ Clears $25 Million – Deadline

SATURDAY AM: Paramount and other studios are calling Smile at $19M opening. In a deja vu from last weekend with New Line’s Don’t worry darling, another genre shot, this R-rated horror flick received a B-CinemaScore and a stern 69%/53% Definitive Recommendation on Comscore/Screen Engine’s PostTrak, a standard audience reaction for such a fare. We see a studio calling Smile at $20 million, and frankly with that ratings and the frontal nature of horror movies, only tonight will determine if that increases. Last weekend everyone got excited about the initial numbers they were seeing for Don’t worry darling, recovered from their skis and called the weekend at $20 million on Saturday morning before dropping to $19.3 million on Monday.
