Miguel’s wife, Nazanin Mandi, filed for divorce.
In court documents obtained by PEOPLE on Tuesday, Mandi, 36, filed for divorce from Miguel, also 36, in California Superior Court in Los Angeles County.
Mandi cited irreconcilable differences and asked for assets and properties to be divided as stated in their prenuptial agreement.
A rep for Miguel did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
Days before the filing, Mandi reflected on her “current journey of soul-searching” in a series of selfies shared on Instagram.
“In a current journey of introspection and rediscovery of my purest self…when and who was I when I was my freest, most confident self…” she wrote. “She’s still here. And rising to the occasion, but this time with life experience, defined desires and an elevated state of mind, one healing step at a time. If this is you, we have thisπͺπ½.”
Her decision comes more than a year after she and Miguel announced their separation in September 2021.
“After 17 years together, Miguel and Nazanin Mandi have decided to go their separate ways and have been for some time now,” a rep for the couple told PEOPLE exclusively at the time. “The couple wish each other good luck.”

In February, they revealed that they had decided to put things right when the Dream Catcher The actress shared a series of photos on Instagram with the “Adorn” singer – and the couple weren’t shy about showing their affection.
In the photos, Mandi and Miguel were pictured smiling, kissing and holding each other as they got dressed for what appeared to be their Valentine’s Day outing.

In March 2021, Mandi spoke with host Janine Rubenstein for the PEOPLE every day podcast on maintaining your relationship in quarantine.
“We used to be together a lot, but we also used to travel a lot,” she said at the time. “So keeping the spark alive was definitely something we had to stay on β because when you’re in different cities, it’s automatic to feel the excitement. [when you see each other again].”
“But being at home [together] all the time it’s like, ‘Okay, we have to find new things to watch and do and read,'” she continued. “It was a lot, but overall, we did well. I have no complaints, [and] am grateful for everything.”
