Julian Sands: Who is the British Hollywood actor missing in California?
Julian Sands, the British star of films such as A room with a view and arachnophobia, has been identified as the hiker missing in a California mountain range since last week.
The actor’s family and friends cling to hope that he will be found safe, amid warnings of dangerous conditions for the search for volunteers.
Sands, 65, has been missing in the Mount Baldy area since Friday, Jan. 13, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
The actor was thought to be somewhere on the popular Baldy Bowl Trail, which climbs 3,900 feet in 4.5 miles to the highest peak of the San Gabriel Mountains.
Search and rescue teams searching for Sands had to suspend the search over the weekend due to an avalanche threat, with authorities continuing to use drones.
The Independent understands that Sands’ son Henry has joined the search. He retraces the route taken by his father, with the help of an experienced climber.

California has been hit by a series of severe winter storms that have brought flooding and heavy snowfall in recent weeks.
Sands, who lives in North Hollywood and has more than 150 TV credits to her name, recently starred in the horror flick Monday ghosts.
Among his upcoming releases is a thriller titled Double soulwith F Murray Abraham.

Julian Sands: Prolific British movie star named as missing hiker in California mountains
He was reported missing by his wife, writer Evgenia Citkowitz, on Friday night and is believed to have been somewhere on the popular Baldy Bowl Trail in the San Gabriel Mountains. Mount Baldy is a 10,000 foot peak located northeast of Los Angeles in the Angeles National Forest.
Sands is an avid hiker and mountaineer who once described his happiest moment as “near a mountaintop on a glorious cold morning”.

Police update: Sands was reportedly still on the move on Sunday
Sands appeared to be on the move two full days after her first disappearance.
A spokesperson for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said, “On January 15, 2023, phone calls showed Sands heading to the Mount Baldy area.
“Additional phone pings from cell phone provider were attempted but failed, due to lack of cell service and most likely cell phone power outage.”

‘No deadline’ to cancel search for Julian Sands – authorities
Authorities say there is still “no deadline” to call off the search for Julian Sands, a week after the British actor was first reported missing in the mountains of southern California.
