James Gunn shoots down claim that Gal Gadot was ‘kicked’ out of the DC Universe after ‘Wonder Woman 3’ ax – Deadline

James Gunn and Peter Safran were tasked with shaking up the DC Universe and in doing so, ditched several ideas from the past regime, such as the return of Henry Cavill as Superman and Patty Jenkins take over. wonder woman 3.

Many fans have speculated that with the removal of the third installment of the wonder woman movie, Gal Gadot had been “kicked” out of DC. However, Gunn provided clarification on Gadot and his current position.

“I don’t know what you’re getting at that we ‘kicked’ Gal,” Gunn replied.

Gunn’s answer could be interpreted two ways: 1. Gadot is still working with DC for a future Wonder Woman appearance or 2. Gadot left DC on her own in the middle of the shakeup.

Jenkins’ treatment for wonder woman 3 was rejected by the new DC Regime as it did not fit Gunn and Safran’s plans for the DC Universe.

“I never left. I was open to considering whatever was asked of me. I understood that there was nothing I could do to advance anything at that time. DC is obviously buried in the changes they need to make, so I understand those decisions are tough right now,” Jenkins said in a statement.

Before the news that wonder woman 3 wasn’t happening under Jenkins’ direction, Gadot shared a message of hope about sharing the superhero’s “next chapter” with fans.

“A few years ago it was announced that I was going to play Wonder Woman. I was so grateful to have the opportunity to play such an incredible and iconic character and more than anything I am grateful to you. Fans I can’t wait to share his next chapter with you,” Gadot shared on social media.

Gunn has received a lot of backlash over his decisions as the DC Universe moves in a new direction. The Suicide Squad the director addressed fans in a series of tweets calling for the “disrespectful outcry”.

“Our picks for the DCU are based on what we think is best for the story and best for DC characters that have been around for nearly 85 years. Maybe those picks are great, maybe not, but they are made with a sincere heart and integrity and always with the story in mind,” he tweeted.

Gunn continued, “We knew there would be a turbulent time when we took on this gig, and we knew we had to make tough, not-so-obvious choices at times, especially following the choppy nature of this gig. who came before us.”
