Chris Hemsworth is taking “time off” after wrapping up the press tour for his new Disney+ documentary series “Limitless.”
The 39-year-old actor told Vanity Fair that after filming the show’s final episode, which focused on mortality and death, he decided to take a break from his career to spend time with his family. The ‘Thor’ star shares daughter India, 10, and 8-year-old twins Tristan and Sasha with wife Elsa Pataky, 46.
“Doing an episode about death and dealing with your own mortality made me go, ‘Oh my God, I’m not ready to go yet,'” he said.

“And then you start talking about the kids and the family and saying, ‘Oh my God, they’re getting older, they’re growing up, and I keep putting another movie on another movie. Before you know it, they’re 18, and they moved out of the house, and I missed the window.”
The Australia native explained, “It really sparked something in me to want to take some time off. And since we finished the show, I finished the things that I was already committed to.”
“Now when I’m done with this tour this week, I’m going home, and I’m going to have a good time off and simplify. Be with the kids, be with my wife.”
In the six-part series, Hemsworth tests his physical and mental limits as he explores how to fight aging and extend life.

While filming the show, Hemsworth learned that he was 8 to 10 times more likely than the average individual to develop Alzheimer’s disease.
In the fifth episode, he meets longevity doctor Dr. Peter Attia and undergoes a series of genetic tests.
“We have every possible blood test,” Attia told Hemsworth on the show. “And you have two copies of APOE4. One game from your mom and one from your dad.”
APOE4 is the gene that has the strongest correlation with the development of Alzheimer’s disease; however, not much is known about him.

“The idea that I won’t be able to remember the life I lived, or my wife, my children, is probably my biggest fear,” the “Avengers” star frankly shared in the episode.
Attia told Hemsworth: “I’m confident that if we take every possible step we can reduce your risk to anyone else’s.”

The “Extraction” actor also revealed that his grandfather suffered from the disease. “He also doesn’t remember who we are, you know, his grandchildren, but also even his own children, for years. It’s heartbreaking.”
In his interview with Vanity Fair, Hemsworth said the revelation prompted him to make some significant changes in his life. He also revealed that Disney+ offered to cut his test results from the episode.

“I thought, ‘No, look, if that’s motivation for people to take better care of themselves and also understand that there are steps you can take – then fantastic,'” he said. Hemsworth told the outlet.
“My concern was that I just didn’t want to manipulate it and over-dramatize it, and make it kind of a hokey take on empathy or anything for entertainment.”
