A clip from a 2014 interview with Kate Gosselin and her twin daughters, Mady and Cara, has resurfaced on TikTok, and viewers are saying the clip is full of red flags.

The interview, originally broadcast on the Today show, features Savannah Guthrie sitting with former stars of the hit TLC show Jon and Kate plus eight.

In the tense footage, Savannah asks twins Mady and Cara (13 at the time) to provide the world with an update, following their appearance on the cover of People magazine.

“Mady, what would you like to say about how you, your sister and your family are doing? Savannah asks.

Mady takes a moment to think and search for the words – something that seems to irritate her mother.

“Mady, your words,” Kate snapped her fingers. “This is your chance. Spit it out.”

Kate and Mady exchange a pointed look in silence, prompting Savannah to ask Cara – who is also a mom as her twin.

“It’s their chance to talk,” Kate said awkwardly to Savannah. “It’s as silent as I’ve heard them all morning.”

From there, the tension and embarrassment only grow – until finally Kate takes the proverbial reins of her twins and conducts the interview herself.

The clip has since gained over 4.6 million views, 321,000 likes and 12,000 comments on TikTok.

Who are the Gosselins?

The Gosselin family was filmed for the TLC show Jon and Kate plus eight from 2007 to 2017. The show focused on married couple Jon and Kate as they raised their twin daughters, Mady and Cara, and their sextuplets, Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah and Joel.

After a messy public divorce in 2009, the show dropped husband Jon from the title and became Kate plus eightwhich lasted two seasons.

Kate then appeared in Dancing with the stars and Celebrity Wife Swap and later had his own show called Kate More Datewhich lasted one season.

Recently, the Gosselin family reappeared in the headlines when 18-year-old Collin gave a rare interview about his mother’s decision to institutionalize him as a child and his choice to live with his father, Jon.

Over 12,000 TikTokers shared their feelings on the Today interview in the comments.

“They embarrassed Kate deeply here and I bet they paid dearly for it at home later,” one user wrote.

“It’s so sad that they keep looking at their mother before answering. Kate is the modern day [Mommie] Very expensive,” another user commented.

“There is something going on in their house… the silence is disturbing,” wrote one user.

“These kids just said it all without saying anything,” another user wrote.

“Wow! The girls are so scared to speak up for themselves. This video says it all!” commented another user.

“Red flags galore,” said one user.

Kate, now 47, lives in North Carolina with Alexis, Aaden, Leah and Joel – while Jon, 45, lives in Miami with Collin and Hannah. Twins Mady and Cara, now 22, are currently enrolled in separate colleges.
