Marvel Releases Sinister New Captain America, Storm, Cable, and More

Marvel Comics is releasing new versions of Captain America, Cable, Storm, Wolverine and more for the next X-Men event, Sins of Sinister.


Marvel has unveiled sinister incarnations of Captain America, Storm, Cable, Wolverine and more for the upcoming X-Men event, Sins of Sinister.


Sins of Sinister is a new X-Men event launching in January. The event, which focuses on a world where Mister Sinister finally gets everything he desires, takes readers to eras manipulated by Mister Sinister and set ten, 100, and 1,000 years in the future. The publisher announced: “Among the YEAR 10 creations is Storm as she adopts Magneto’s signature style to defend what remains of Arakko beyond the reach of Sinister, Captain America after he fell victim to Sinister’s corruption and a mutated chimera that merges Nightcrawler and Wolverine.YEAR 100 designs reveal a mysterious new replacement for Cable’s techno-organic arm, a cruel fate for Nightcrawler, and a new look for Sinister him -even. Finally, the YEAR 1000 designs feature two new characters who will play a pivotal role in the event, Ironfire and Auntie Fortune, and the long-awaited return of Rasputin from Jonathan Hickman’s House X/Powers of X!”

“Sinister hid, being sinister for all of Krakoan age. Eventually he was going to make a play. This is it, and it’s bigger than you can imagine, spanning 1000 years of nightmares,” wrote writer Kieron Gillen. “Dystopian future stories are a classic X-Men. We wanted to find a new way to approach this and give something that we hadn’t seen before. I think we nailed it. Sinister gets exactly what he wants, and it’s hell for everyone, including Sinister.

Sins of Sinister starts on January 25, 2023, with Sins of Sinister #1 by Gillen, artist Lucas Werneck, cover artist Leinil Francis Yu and more. The issue’s synopsis reads, “It’s the end of the world as we know it, and at least Sinister feels good. For now. Can this last? Especially when we find out he’s truly his worst enemy… The Universe – Fusion X event begins here, in a horror timeline that makes Age of Apocalypse look like the X-Men Swimsuit Special. Join Kieron Gillen (IMMORTAL X-MEN, AXE: JUDGMENT DAY) as he kicks off the X-Men crossover Sinister has been planning from the beginning…and is going to have to go through with it.”

The event will continue to unfold in three separate X-Men titles the following month – Storm and the Brotherhood (launching February 8 from Al Ewing and Paco Medina), Earthworms (launching February 15 from writer Si Spurrier and Medina) and Immoral X-Men #1 (launching February 2 from Gillen and Medina). All three series feature covers by Leinil Francis Yu.
