Meghan Markle’s manager made demands at New York restaurant: book

  • Ex-schoolteacher Michael Cecchi-Azzolina alleges Meghan Markle’s manager demanded a private table in a new book.
  • Cecchi-Azzolina writes that Markle was quiet and “aloof” while her master spoke.
  • His memoir, “Your Table is Ready: Tales of a New York City Maître D’,” will be released on December 6.

Former butler Michael Cecchi-Azzolina claims Meghan Markle’s manager demanded a private table in 2017 at the starred restaurant Le Coucou in New York.

The Daily Mail has obtained a copy of her upcoming memoir, “Your Table is Ready: Tales of a New York City Maitre D’,” where Cecchi-Azzolina details the alleged meeting with Markle and a staff member. Alleged former butler Markle and her mistress arrived for the reservation 20 minutes early and immediately demanded special treatment.

According to Cecchi-Azzolina, Markle remained silent as her master requested a private table, saying it was “for someone dating a prince.” At the time, Markle was dating Prince Harry, whom she would marry a year later.

“Do you know that my guest is dating Prince Harry and is about to become a Duchess? Cecchi-Azzolina wrote in reference to the anonymous staff member. “Don’t you have a private space to keep us waiting?”

Cecchi-Azzolina, who worked at Le Coucou for two and a half years, remembers telling them he didn’t have a private table available.

In her book, Cecchi-Azzolina details her reaction to the request. “My first instinct was to laugh. I didn’t give a damn about Prince Harry’s date, and the attention the escort was getting from the crowd at the bar, or anyone else,” he wrote. .

While the manager spoke to Cecchi-Azzolina, he wrote that Markle “didn’t say a word” and described the Duchess of Sussex as “aloof”.

Representatives for Markle did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment.

According to her memoir, Markle wasn’t the only celebrity to leave a bad taste in Cecchi-Azzolina’s mouth. It includes alleged interactions with Vogue editor Anna Wintour and model Naomi Campbell, citing their behavior as “absolutely awful” and “rude”, respectively.

Cecchi-Azzolina’s book will be available for purchase on December 6.

The release of the memoir comes days after the ongoing feud between late night host James Corden and Balthazar owner Keith McNally. McNally took to Instagram on Tuesday to claim that Corden was “abusive” of his servers and was therefore banned from dining at his restaurant.

Since then, the two have exchanged apologies and backtracked. Corden and McNally still appear to be on bad terms after Corden told The New York Times “I didn’t do anything wrong,” in an interview Thursday.
