The first reactions to Avatar The Way of Water have finally arrived

Avatar: The Way of the Water finally brings us back to Pandora next week, and now we have the first reactions to see if it was worth the 13-year wait.

The long-awaited sequel had its world premiere tonight (December 6) in London and the lucky few who saw it took to social media to share their first thoughts on James Cameron’s new film.

Among them is digital spyIan Sandwell, film editor, who wrote: ” Without surprise, Avatar: The Way of the Water is a visual masterpiece with rich use of 3D and breathtaking views.

“It suffers from a thin story and too many characters to juggle, but James Cameron pulls it together for an extraordinary final act full of emotion and heart-pounding action.”

Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, Avatar: The Way of the Water sees Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldaña as Jake Sully and Neytiri, who are now parents doing whatever they can to keep their family together.

When a dangerous enemy returns to Pandora, the Sullys are forced to leave their home and travel through Pandora to the Metkayina clan who live in harmony with the surrounding oceans.

Like Jake did in the first film, the Sullys must learn to navigate their dangerous new home and gain acceptance from the community in order to keep everyone safe.

20th century workshops

We already know that Avatar: The Way of the Water is not the end of their story since three other films are planned. However, Cameron recently revealed that if the sequel isn’t a hit, the series could end with the third movie.

“The market could tell us we’re done in three months, or we could be half done, which means, ‘OK, let’s finish the story in movie three, and don’t go on and on,’ if not is simply not profitable”. he explained.

With the sequel set to double as the first film’s US opening, we have a feeling Cameron may have nothing to worry about.

Avatar: The Way of the Water hits theaters on December 16. You can watch Avatar right now on Disney+.
