Kofi Kingston vs. Sami Zayn
2 out of 8

SmackDown has aired the latest news: Karrion Kross and Scarlett have been involved in a backstage car crash. Drew McIntyre attacked a staggered Kross and promised, “this is just the beginning!”
Back in the arena, Kofi Kingston and Sami Zayn kicked off the in-ring portion of the night’s show. Xavier Woods and Jey Uso accompanied the contestants respectively.
Zayn controlled the action, putting the former WWE Champion on the defensive. Kingston fired back into the match, showing some of that signature resilience, but a super kick from Uso to Woods on the floor distracted the honorary Uce enough to deliver a Blue Thunder Bomb for two.
Kingston looked set to win the match via a rollup but Uso slipped in, reversed it in Zayn’s favor and watched as his budding rival scored the assisted win.
It was a damn good match between two grizzled pros who know what it takes to deliver considering how long this one was.
Zayn’s attempts to further prove he was part of The Bloodline family were humorous and effective, but it was Uso who helped him win the match that was most important. Eager to please the tribal leader, but furious at being placed under Zayn’s control, he put aside his personal vendettas and did what was right for The Bloodline.
There will come a time when he won’t and what it means to him, Zayn and their place in Reigns’ empire remains one of the most engaging stories in all of wrestling.

Best moments
- Zayn took a phone call from Roman Reigns before the game, shielding Uso from the call and refusing to fill him in on anything the tribal leader had to say.
- The Honorary Uce delivered The Usos-esque running hip attack, really hammering his way into The Bloodline.
Braun Strowman vs. Brian Thomas and James Maverick
3 out of 8

Braun Strowman found himself up against two improvement talents, Brian Thomas and James Maverick, in a handicap match on Friday night.
The monster among monsters destroyed the competition, picking up the win easily, all while staring at Omos and MVP, who were watching from the ring.
After the match, the latter warned Strowman that “monsters disappear in the shadows”, suggesting the former Universal Champion is no match for the giant contender.
The idea of Strowman vs Omos is hardly appealing but as a spectacle there are few matches that would be better. If Triple H has nothing better to do for them, there are far worse options for the next Crown Jewel card than a Battle of the Goliaths.

LA Knight vs. Mon. Sun.
4 out of 8

A week ago, LA Knight ditched his “Max Dupri” moniker and returned to the name he made famous in NXT. His opponent ? The former partner of Maximum Male Models mån.sôör, who was accompanied to the square circle by Maxxine Dupri and ma.çé.
A distraction from the latter allowed the heel to take control momentarily but Knight fired back, pushing ma.çé back and putting mån.sôör for the overall victory.
After the match, Knight warned the WWE Superstars, but not before turning on the fans saying he didn’t need them chanting his name.
Knight is always going to excel as a heel, but it was certainly interesting to see him turn around so quickly after dropping the maximum male models. This will benefit him in the long run, but it remains to be seen whether such a quick turn after another two weeks earlier was the right choice or not.

Shotzi, Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez against Damage CTRL
5 out of 8

NXT’s Roxanne Perez joined Shotzi and Raquel Rodriguez for a six-man tag team match against Damage CTRL’s Bayley, Iyo Sky and Dakota Kai.
A fiery Perez took the fight fearlessly before tagging Shotzi into the match. The high-energy match fell apart late, with Shotzi, Kai, and Sky all flying through the air in favor of their team.
Perez, proving no stage is too big for her, was kicked out of Bayley’s Bayley-to-Belly suplex. The two continued their back and forth, concluding with Bayley countering a build-up for the hard-fought victory.
It was a fast-paced match that tried to highlight everyone involved and did it quite well. There was no structure to speak of, but it did what it wanted: highlight Shotzi and Rodriguez as potential challengers to Kai and Sky’s Women’s Tag Team Championships while presenting Perez as a star of the future of WWE.
The young NXT star, in particular, showed up and introduced himself on his first opportunity and everyone involved should be very happy with his future prospects. The match also served as a great intro to Halloween Havoc, NXT’s October 26 event.

- The exchange of dives late in the match was a lot of fun and set the stage for Perez to fight Bayley in an effort to prove himself on this stage.
HitRow vs. Ghost Legacy
6 out of 8

Hit Row’s Ashante Thee Adonis and Top Dolla sought revenge on Friday night as they took on Legado Del Fantasma’s Cruz del Toro and Joaquin Wilde in tag team action. Santos Escobar and Zelina Vega accompanied the heels while B-Fab assisted Hit Row.
The short-lived match saw del Toro and Wilde pick up the win when Escobar took Adonis off the apron and Vega wiped out B-Fab, leaving Top Dolla to suffer Sacrificio.
It was a logical follow-up to what we saw last week, but you could tell from the reaction (or lack of reaction) from the WWE Universe that they weren’t quite sure what to make of the newcomers.
There was little explanation of who they are or what they’re talking about and while some of that preserves the intrigue as to Vega’s relationship with the band, it’s definitely something Triple H will have to look into for prevent fans from deactivating the faction. early.
A simple video package would suffice and we know from its long and illustrious history on this front that few do it better than WWE.

Fatal Match 4: Ricochet vs. Sheamus vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Solo Sikoa
7 out of 8

A shot at Gunther’s Intercontinental Championship awaited the winner of the Fatal 4-Way Match pitting rival Sheamus against Ricochet, Solo Sikoa and Rey Mysterio of The Bloodline.
Karrion Kross was originally slated for the fight but after the events atop the show he was replaced by future Hall of Famer Mysterio.
The action was nonstop, with Sheamus teasing a fight with Sikoa, only for Ricochet to obliterate the second-generation star at ringside. Sikoa recovered and stood tall entering the commercial break.
He showed his strength with a late round from Doom Spot but left himself open for a beating at the hands of Sheamus. Celtic Warrior had Sikoa close to tap but Jey Uso and Sami Zayn intervened. Butch and Ridge Holland joined the fray, leaving Mysterio and Ricochet to close out the match.
The 619 master delivered his trademark move, then added a frog splash for the win.
Mysterio appears to be in the first moments of a flare-up, with his story being one of the most impactful in the series. After a low point on Monday night following his son’s disrespect and humiliation, he recovered like the greats do and earned a championship opportunity by defeating three of SmackDown’s best.
Beyond the infallible Hall of Famer, it now looks like The Brawling Brutes are on a collision course with The Bloodline. It should make for some damn good TV and elevate the status of babyfaces in the process.

- Michael Cole pointed out in a comment that this was Sheamus and Mysterio’s first time facing each other, which is amazing when you consider how long they’ve been fighting in WWE rings.
- Cole announced that Mysterio had officially signed a deal with Triple H to be a member of the SmackDown roster, an interesting development given what seemed like a destined showdown with his son Dominik.

Bray Wyatt’s highly anticipated return headlined this week’s show.
A new entrance theme guided The Eater of Worlds to the squared circle, where he stood in civilian clothes and without a mask. He cut a sincere and genuine promo, speaking from the bottom of his heart to fans.
Then the enigmatic figure resembling Max Headroom appeared and warned that they didn’t know who they were dealing with, but they would.
The show was discontinued with the new Wyatt logo displayed on screen.
He was a different Wyatt than we’ve seen before, an open and honest Wyatt before giving way to the enigmatic theatrics we’ve come to expect from him. That did nothing to tell us what this new incarnation of the former world champion is all about, but it did heighten interest in him, which will benefit everyone involved.
